Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Reneé, formally known
as Reneé Revell, came to Colorado in the mid 1960's. Reneé
mostly grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she spent 8
hours a day at the Broadmoor World Arena as a figure skater. She
gave up her figure skating career when she started college at the
University of Arizona to pursue her education as an art major.
After college, she began working in Colorado Springs
for Simpich Character Dolls as a painter of doll heads. She then
moved on to starting her own interior decorating business and after
about 6 years decided to go in a different direction. Not that she
was not doing her artwork at this time, but she needed to do something
steady to pay the bills. Fate led her to Gunnison, Colorado where
she continues to live. She began her new career as a police officer
for the City of Gunnison. She loved her work in law enforcement
and her position as D.A.R.E. officer until an injury forced her
to seek another career. Reneé and her husband, Ramon, now
run their own trucking company. Reneé obtained her Class
A CDL license and drives dump trucks to the semi that hauls the
belly or end dump.
Life has handed Reneé a tough hand in the
form of a spinal injury and spinal surgery. This twist of fate has
caused Reneé to slow her life down, and in turn focus on
her talent of painting and drawing, which she feels is her true
destiny calling. Through all of her careers and acquired skills,
her main passion is drawing and painting scenes of things she loves:
animals, western scenes, rodeo, and children. She does most of her
work from references of photographs that she takes herself. She
also enjoys working on commissioned works. Please contact Reneé
if you have something in mind.
Hopefully, you will enjoy Reneé's artwork
as much as she enjoys producing pieces to share with the world.
